Kulanu: Special Needs Program

Kulanu, which means “All of Us“, is our inclusive Religious School program that allows an alternative path of Jewish Education for children with special needs. The students will benefit from small class sizes and specialized resources to accommodate a range of learning and social challenges and disabilities. The Kulanu lessons will incorporate the student’s interests and strengths and utilize a variety of teaching strategies in order to individualize instruction and will enhance the child’s understanding of our customs, holidays and traditions. An Individualized Education Plan will be developed with each family to ensure the learning environment is optimized to the child’s needs.

On September 10, 2022 Charleigh Mae Caiet became a Bat Mitzvah after studying with a tutor for about 9 months. Charleigh was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and she has communication challenges. With special training, modifying teaching styles and individualized attention, Charleigh was a star and made herself, her family and the whole Jewish community proud!
